She even creates fuller, sexier lips with Juvéderm. Dermal Fillers Q & A

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable therapies that add or replace volume in your skin. Helena Dermatology & Montana Aesthetics PC relies on the Juvéderm family of hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal fillers to make aesthetic improvements such as:

  • Creating fuller, sexier lips
  • Smoothing out wrinkles and folds
  • Building up your cheekbones
  • Restoring lost volume to your midface

Dermal fillers are a great therapy to combine with other anti-aging treatments, including BOTOX Cosmetic® wrinkle treatment and laser rejuvenation.

How do dermal fillers work?

Juvéderm works by injecting a hydrophilic (i.e., water-loving) gel containing HA directly into areas of volume loss or into areas where you’d like to add extra volume, such as your cheekbones and lips.

Most types of Juvéderm are formulated with the anesthetic lidocaine to keep you comfortable during your treatment. Juvéderm comes in a variety of formulas and consistencies so that you can make subtle to dramatic volume changes:

  • Juvéderm XC — plumps up moderate to severe wrinkles for a smoother, more youthful look; creates dramatic changes in lip volume and shape
  • Vollure — best for filling out deep folds and creases, such as nasolabial folds (NLF) and marionette lines
  • Voluma — a thick HA filler that restores lost volume in your midface and cheeks to create thicker, more youthful, and more uplifted skin
  • Volbella — a honey-like HA filler that creates subtle volume changes in your lips; used to fill in fine lines, such as perioral wrinkles, and tear troughs.

Depending on your needs, Dr. Vellanki may recommend more than one Juvéderm filler to restore facial volume and plump up wrinkles and creases.

What happens after I get dermal fillers?

After your dermal fillers treatment, you notice an immediate change in your facial smoothness and volume. Because HA is hydrophilic, your injections also help you retain moisture in your face for a youthful glow.

You may be a little sore or swollen after you get Juvéderm. You can control discomfort with ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Each Juvéderm product lasts for 6-18 months, depending on the formulation and the area treated. The team at Helena Dermatology & Montana Aesthetics PC schedules your touch-ups so you can retain your youthful glow without interruption.
